In 2009, Perlman started drafting the screenplay. Guardians of the Galaxy was initially publicly discussed as a possible movie in 2010 by producer Kevin Feige. Marvel Studios then revealed the project was actively developing at the July 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. That September, Gunn was brought on board to write and direct the movie. After Pratt was cast as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in February 2013, the other members of the supporting cast were announced. Filming in London continued until October 2013, when principal photography at Shepperton Studios in England concluded in July 2013. Along with an original soundtrack composed by Tyler Bates, the movie’s soundtrack has a number of well-known songs that Gunn selected from the 1960s and 1970s. July 7, 2014, was the completion date of post-production.
