Logan had its world premiere on February 17, 2017, at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. On March 3, 2017, it was distributed in theatres across the country in both conventional and IMAX formats. The picture won plaudits from critics for its storyline, direction, action sequences, emotional depth, and departure from conventional superhero movies. Actors Jackman, Stewart, and Keen in particular were praised for their performances. It was named one of the top 10 films of 2017 by the National Board of Review and went on to become the best-reviewed X-Men movie ever. Numerous critics hailed it as one of the best superhero pictures ever created. The 90th Academy Awards saw it receive a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, making it the first live-action superhero movie to do so.
