Marvel Studios started working on the movie in April 2005 after they got a loan from Merrill Lynch. Following the triumph of Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel revealed that The Avengers, starring Steve Rogers (Evans), Bruce Banner (Ruffalo), Thor (Hemsworth), and Tony Stark (Downey) from the company’s earlier films, would be released in July 2011. After Johansson was cast as Natasha Romanoff in March 2009, the movie’s original release date was rescheduled for 2012. After joining the team in April 2010, Whedon reworked Zak Penn’s initial screenplay. Production started in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in April 2011 and proceeded to Cleveland, Ohio, in August, and New York City, New York, in September. There are about 2,200 visual effects shots in the movie.
